Hello again, everyone.
Please note that this is the last e-mail update “from my perspective” that you will receive unless you reply that you would like to continue receiving it. To date, most of you have already requested that I continue communicating with you in this way. I’m just a guy—your neighbor—who gets to see things that you might not see and has opinions on them.
I’m a volunteer homeowner who has sat on the Independence Metropolitan Overlay District board of directors for almost four years and currently as the Independence Architectural Controls Committee (ACC) chairman and as the director member on the Independence Resident Review Committee (RRC).
If nothing else, I just want to provide a perspective that is different from those that are so negative, deconstructive, and mostly false—like what is present on the unofficial Facebook social media group(s) that use the “Independence” name. While I don’t use Facebook, residents have shown me some of the silly posts and poor attitudes that permeate conversations there. Many of the positions or histories reported there are simply false; and sometimes I notice agendas by people. The Facebook groups simply do not represent the actual history of Independence’s development, our volunteers and neighbors, or even how a special district or covenant-controlled community in Colorado operates.
I can tell when these social media warriors have never been to a single board meeting... which is where all of the Independence decisions and government take place! So, my advice is simply to find alternative sources of information, like what I provide. If nothing else, challenge the negative narratives that you hear. If you find yourself hating other people or fighting tooth-and-nail over one of our covenant-controlled community’s rules that you violated... then you are probably being hornswoggled by someone else or are using poor judgement.
I will keep talking about Independence and my perspectives and opinions on it.
Lastly, below are the upcoming board and district meetings at Independence, in case you’d like to attend and see how our covenant-controlled community is actually governed. If you really want to make Independence great—not just for yourself, but for everyone, since all of our property values are tied to how each of us treats this community—then you can figure out some great solutions that will make our whole community better.
As I always say, “bring solutions, not just complaints.” Most residents already have this basic understanding of living in a Common Interest Development and don’t act like “sovereign citizens.” Let’s work together to bring the negative minority into being better neighbors in our community so that we can all benefit.
As always, feel free to ask me valid questions whenever you like or to post this newsletter (in its entirety) wherever you think that the most Independence residents will view it for honest consideration and for maximum value to them.
May God bless each of us.
